專題演講: 學術英文的科學分析 (日本早稻田大學 Prof. Laurence Anthony )

TITLE:

Understanding Writing and Oral Presentation English in Science and Engineering: A Scientific Analysis

ABSTRACT :
Understanding how to communicate in writing and oral presentations through English is an important skill that all scientists and engineers need to master if they hope to become internationally successful. In this presentation, I will look at research article and oral presentation English and show how a scientific analysisof their key features can lead to simple, practical rules that students can easily apply when reporting their own work in journals and conferences. I will also introduce several software tools that allow students to analyze science and engineering language and discover important features that are unique to their own specialist field. Using these tools, students can answer their own questions about language and start writing in a clear and natural way.
